We provide an alternative proof of the sequentialisation theorem for proof nets of multiplicative linear logic. Namely, we show how a proof net can be transformed into a sequent calculus proof simply by properly adding to it some special edges, called sequential edges, which express the sequentiality constraints given by sequent calculus.

Much has been written on witchcraft by historians, theologians, philosophers, and anthropologists, but nothing by scientists. Riassunto: In questo lavoro mi propongo di mostrare che emozioni reali potrebbero essere causate da oggetti fittizi, offrendo una soluzione per il cosiddetto “paradosso della finzione” e incentrando la mia tesi su una critica alla soluzione finzionalista del problema del “make-believe” di Kendall Walton. A mio parere la validità della distinzione tra emozioni e “quasi-emozioni” deve essere respinta, ammettendo che un oggetto immaginario può suscitare reazioni emotive, anche se l’osservatore non è presente nella scena ed è anche consapevole della non-esistenza (...) dell’oggetto che suscita tali reazioni emotive. Inoltre, cercherò di mostrare come la produzione pornografica può servire come un caso prototipico per mettere in discussione la tesi di Walton. A mio parere l’approccio proposto potrebbe offrire una soluzione per il “paradosso della finzione” basata sulla teoria ontologica dell’oggetto, sostenuta anche da evidenze fornite nel campo delle neuroscienze. Real Emotions for Fictional Objects: In this paper I aim to show that real emotions can be caused by fictional objects, offering a solution to the so-called “paradox of fiction”. My argument focuses on a critique of the fictionalist solution to Kendall Walton’s “make-believe” problem. In my opinion, we should reject the validity of the distinction between emotions and “quasi-emotions” and admit that a fictional object can elicit emotional reactions, even if the observer is not present in the scene and is aware that the object eliciting his emotional response is non-existent. Furthermore, I will try to show how pornographic production can serve as a prototypical case to challenge Walton’s arguments. In my opinion the proposed approach could offer a solution to the “paradox of fiction”: a solution based on ontological object theory and further supported by neuroscientific evidence. This chapter takes the form of a discussion between the editors of this volume and Steven Lukes, one the most eminent critics of methodological individualism. The focus is on Lukes’ interpretation of methodological individualism in terms of linguistic exclusivism (i.e., naive reductionism), the multiple-realization problem, Boudon’s and Elster’s micro-foundationalist approach, ontological individualism, and the rationality of human action.

En este trabajo realizamos una revisión historiográfica sobre la fabricación de anatomías artificiales que fueron ampliamente demandadas como herramientas didácticas en la enseñanza de la naturaleza, entre finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XX. Se analizan los contextos educativos y sociales que favorecieron la amplia difusión de este tipo de artefactos en el comercio de la cultura científica, y se describen las técnicas de manufactura. Se concluye que estos artefactos, fruto del ingenio humano, son fuentes materiales de extraordinario valor (...) para comprender la construcción y evolución de la ciencia, los avances en los recursos pedagógicos y las innovaciones tecnológicas. We prove that the opposite of the category of coalgebras for the Vietoris endofunctor on the category of compact Hausdorff spaces is monadic over $\mathsf {Set}$. We deliver an analogous result for the upper, lower, and convex Vietoris endofunctors acting on the category of stably compact spaces. We provide axiomatizations of the associated (infinitary) varieties. This can be seen as a version of Jónsson–Tarski duality for modal algebras beyond the zero-dimensional setting.

El presente artículo indaga si ¿es el sujeto un ser autónomo en la deliberación política o sonlos pensamientos, las posturas y las formas de la organización política mediadas por las distintas herramientas comunicacionales a las que se ve expuesto quienes lo determinan? Así, analiza larelación que existe entre mass media y política, con la capacidad deliberativa del individuo altomar decisiones en el contexto político, a partir de Chomsky y Han. La metodología es cualitativa con diseño documental, el instrumento son fichas (...) bibliográficas aplicadas a fuentes primarias y secundarias. Se usan bases de datos con el algoritmo: “Neoliberalismo, psicopolítica, big data, medios de comunicación de masas y democracia”. Se analizan 13 libros y 20 artículos. Se identifican las nuevas formas y herramientas de organización política y la relación entre política y medios de comunicación. Se concluye que: 1) el neoliberalismo direcciona la idea de libre mercado hacia el individuo mismo, 2) es necesaria una ciudadanía crítica que tenga un rol más activo en lademocracia, 3) se identifica a la psicopolítica como una nueva forma de organización política, 4) lanueva herramienta de la política es el big data, 5) se evidencia que la relación entre política y massmedia está vinculada con los grupos de poder y 6) la emocionalización de la comunicación políticadisminuye la autonomía individual. Given a graph G, we say that a subset D of the vertex set V is a dominating set if it is near all the vertices, in that every vertex outside of D is adjacent to a vertex in D. A domatic k-partition of G is a partition of V into k dominating sets. In this paper, we will consider issues of computability related to domatic partitions of computable graphs. Our investigation will center on answering two types of questions for (...) the case when k = 3. First, if domatic 3-partitions exist in a computable graph, how complicated can they be? Second, a decision problem: given a graph, how difficult is it to decide whether it has a domatic 3-partition? We will completely classify this decision problem for highly computable graphs, locally finite computable graphs, and computable graphs in general. Specifically, we show the decision problems for these kinds of graphs to be ${\Pi^{0}_{1}}$ -, ${\Pi^{0}_{2}}$ -, and ${\Sigma^{1}_{1}}$ -complete, respectively. (shrink)

La cura della salute è un fenomeno originario e insieme una necessità fondamentale, dinamica e non trascurabile della vita, dell’esistenza e dell’esperienza personale e comunitaria di ogni essere umano. La primarietà ontologica della cura, evidenziata anche negli studi filosofici più recenti dedicati alle pratiche dell’aver cura, richiama infatti, attraverso la dimensione co-esistentiva dell’essere insieme nel mondo l’uno con l’altro e l’uno per l’altro, alla stessa primarietà etica e al contempo politica della cura nel naturale e positivo sviluppo della struttura relazionale (...) personale e dell’esistenza condivisa. Si tratta di un processo di rilevazione e conseguente impegno nel favorire oggi concretamente percorsi di cura e umanizzazione della pratica medica e sanitaria, sia quotidiana che straordinaria, nonostante molteplici limiti e complessità rintracciabili nelle stesse pratiche contemporanee dell’aver cura, esemplificativamente ricercati e identificati in alcuni recenti lavori internazionali dal carattere necessariamente interdisciplinare. È significativo, infatti, che in alcuni rilevanti documenti circa gli sviluppi di una delle principali frontiere contemporanee dell’aver cura, come quella costituita dal processo di realizzazione, sviluppo, diffusione e promozione locale, nazionale e internazionale delle reti di cure palliative, vengano ad essere centralmente ricercati, identificati e positivamente ri-evidenziati i principali limiti, gli ostacoli e le barriere attualmente riscontrabili nello sviluppo delle reti di cure palliative; oltre alla messa in evidenza di una sempre positiva e necessaria opportunità di gettare lo sguardo verso il futuro e gli orizzonti di sviluppo della presa in carico globale della persona sofferente nelle varie fasi della malattia e in condizioni di estrema vulnerabilità percepita e vissuta. En este trabajo se analiza la relación que guarda la filosofía del derecho de I. Kant y el pensamiento de K. Marx, sobre todo, en lo concerniente a la «Doctrina del Derecho» elaborada por I. Kant en la Metafísica de las Costumbres . Pretendemos mostrar que la exposición de la «Doctrina del Derecho» lejos de ser el fruto de un pensamiento burgués, como se ha venido considerando desde diversos ámbitos de la tradición marxista, no está tan distante de los problemas (...) centrales abordados por K. Marx en su trabajo sobre El Capital . De este modo localizamos los puntos en común en los que se cruzan ambos pensadores, intentando vislumbrar las posibilidades que esta conjunción filosófica puede aportar en el orden de la filosofía del derecho al presente y futuro de nuestras sociedades. Sobre todo, tratamos de mostrar cómo los problemas abordados en El Capital introducen una suerte de « a priori empírico », que el principio trascendental del derecho debe tener en cuenta para que no sea fagocitado o arrinconado frente al mundo real. En este trabajo se analiza críticamente la literatura sobre el capital social, con énfasis en la situación actual del tema. En la primera parte se presenta el concepto, se da cuenta de algunos antecedentes relacionados con el contexto teórico en que surgió y se indican los momentos más importantes de la discusión posterior. Aquí también se enuncia la tesis del trabajo, que sostiene que parte de la confusión e indeterminación conceptual existente deriva de la manera como fue inicialmente establecido el (...) enfoque. A continuación se analizan críticamente las estrategias para delimitar el campo teórico y de aplicación del capital social, se presentan los componentes básicos en el plano de los indicadores y se resumen las elaboraciones más importantes que han caracterizado su desarrollo. En la parte final, se entrega un resumen y se hacen algunas consideraciones generales sobre el tema. (shrink)

Gibbons vindicate a “socially robust” scientific knowledge in accordance with the social needs of our time. Such a knowledge would not be just epistemically reliable; in addition, it would also fit the situations to which will be put to use, and take into account the consequences of its utilization. In the authors’ view, this new kind of science, which they call (...) “Mode 2 knowledge” in another book, would do justice to a society that is not restrained to receive or ask for scientific information, but also requires sharing in its production. Nowotny and her colleagues mention several epistemological changes which a “robust” knowledge would involve. In this paper I analyze some of those alleged changes. (shrink)
